Crafting, Writing, Commissions and More

Where has the time flown since my last blog post? I cannot believe we're already toward the end of January. February is fast approaching and I see my free Valentines printables have been flying out worldwide. Hope you've been enjoying them. I would love to see what you've been creating from them.

I've been exceptionally busy with crafting projects and written articles, mostly for magazines so unfortunately cannot show here. However, I did create a sweet teddy bear birthday card the other day for a friend's 30th birthday. I'll post after her party (as I know she reads my blog and I wouldn't want to spoil her surprise!)

I had a wonderful surprise myself the other day when I received Cathe's gorgeous handmade ipod case, won from her giveaway. Thank you Cathe....it will be treasured forever - I love it!

Deepest Sympathy Decoupage Card

It is with great saddness that I learn we have lost a dear friend today. He was a charming man, kind and willing to help anybody. Suffering many of life's hardships which unfortunately he experienced a plenty he battled his way through and sadly passed away from illness in hospital. His wife and family will miss him tremendously, as will his closest friends.

You will have noticed I made him a 'policeman' get well card posted on my blog not so long ago. Sadly the well wishes didn''t work and unfortunately this latest sympathy card is for his dear wife and family. We will miss you dear friend.

The decoupage card combines a handmade floral embellishment, gemstones, ribbon and sentiment. I will also personalise with his family's names in the remaining space. It is always tough to make suitable sympathy cards. I like to include a flower of some description (particularly if it's for a female) often a lily is first choice. I try to make the card as elegant and fresh as possible, with pastel colours and not too busy.

Do you have any tips for making Sympathy cards? It's also so difficult to know what to write in these difficult times.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my readers, friends and family!
Hope 2010 brings you peace and happiness.

I love these Forever Friends rubber stamp images. I've combined with holographic and patterned card, a decorative punched border and lots of adhesive stones and pearls...how I love a bit of sparkle!
